Here back again with news and progress on the production of 12 Realms: Dungeonland. Is been some time since our last update where we had start the printing process with the game manufacturer and we were waiting news from the miniatures manufacturer.
First week of June: At that period the manufacturer of the miniatures, had informed us that they would need few weeks to fix the wrong mold so they can begin the production. At the end of June the manufacturer informed us that the mold was ready and they would run some sample tests to ensure that some specific models will be produced normally without any mistakes.
First week of July: The manufacturer completed the sample tests with the upgraded mold so they asked us to confirm to begin the production of the minis. Our main request was to make the final minis as sturdy as possible so they can be easily painted at the final stage. We wouldn’t mind if the production would need more time, as long as the models are sturdy. We also gave them the green light to begin the production of the minis.
Last week of July: We got an update from the manufacturer that the production is moving well without any issues. We asked how much will take the total production, in days. From they day 1 they started to produce the minis, they told us it will take around 50 days. We always add some time since during a production anything can happen.
August 25th: The manufacturer informed us that the production is going to be completed in few days. Once it does, they will start assemble and glue the different models. The final molds do not fit necessarily a whole model. Most times the models must be split in 2-4 parts depending the complexity of the model and the final size. In any case we always offer our games with assembled miniatures since we know that this process is time consuming.
Mid September: The manufacturer informed us that they had completed at least half of the production. At this point we requested an additional number of models as spare parts to be placed in separated carton, marked especially for this reason. We usually use these models in case a game includes a defective model, or if any part is missing and so on. Usually the Chinese companies offer 3% additional product as spare parts but most of them forget about this so we have to remind them through our emails. We also requested to send some models from their factory to Athens, Greece. The people from the studio who painted our miniatures are located in Athens. Thankfully the manager from the factory is an easy person to contact, so he sent us the samples we asked. The samples were sent to us and we sent them directly to the studio. We asked to take some photos from the unpainted minis and some photos from the painted minis in progress.
3rd week of October: The studio sent us the photos we requested at the end of September: Big Bad Wolf, Rat Soldier, Harpy, Dark Unicorn, Werewolf, Magic Mirror, Petsuchos, Crystal Golem, Giant Scorpions and more…

We remind you that Minions, Elite Minion and Bosses have different sizes. Minions are about 35mm, Elite Minions 40mm, and Bosses 50mm. Some sizes differ depending on the pose of the corresponded model. Aside the photos presenting the unpainted but assembled models, we also received photos from the painted minis in progress. Next month the studio will receive all the minis they need in order to complete all the pre-painted sets. Total 1840 miniatures plus some spare parts where we might need. Once they will receive them, they will give an estimation of how long it will take to complete the sets. This studio does not work just for MAGE Company. They are freelancers but we have a permanent co-operation.

Colors are chosen based on the illustration of each character. We also requested from the studio to use lighter tones of colors from the ones of the illustrations cause some models would look very dark in the final stage and some details would be lost. Based on that request the studio is moving and the results are exactly what we need for this project.
Aside the models, we had requested from the manufacturer to customize the bases since this is a dungeon crawling game and we did not want to use simple plain bases without any design. Depending the model and the character, each one has its own special base.
Before we come to the final painted sample, we had to make sample coloring samples with the studio so we can see what would be the best result for the final pre-painted sets.

What are the next steps:
1. The coming month the manufacturer will inform us about the completion of the assembling process. Then all models aside those that must be shipped to Athens, Greece, will be sent to our studio. The rest models will be placed in separated cartons and will be marked so the board game manufacturer can place them correctly in the final box.
2. Our Chinese shipper-partner who is working with us since 2012, will transfer the minis to the board game factory since both factories are located in different locations. Once the minis are delivered, the people from the factory will make a final count so we can be sure that all models are there plus some, enough to cover the whole production.
3. The manager from the board games factory will order the special plastic tray for the minis. As this factory does not produce plastic parts of any type, they have a partner who does. They will send the design of the tray to their partner so they can produce the custom tray as each miniature must have its own spot in the box. This way we will be sure the minis will remain intact regardless the way they will be transfered after they are placed in the box. We will receive those details in the coming month so we will make sure to post the news.
We really want to apologize for the lack of the updates. This delay will not occur again and once we have the updates from the factory we will post them in a timely manner. In case you have sent a pm here or in our email account, please note that we get too many messages and it takes time to reply back as we are working to close multiple projects among other things. In case you need to change your shipping address you can always send us a pm on kickstarter and we will make sure to update the files. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to contact us through a pm on Kickstarter.
A big thanks for your great support!
